Au Coin Berbere Couscous
About Us
A wonderful Couscous restaurant in Montreal!
Second hand shops and ethnic restaurants have long given Duluth street, Montreal’s most famous culinary artery, its unique charm. This is why, in 1997, Rabah Adjemout, the former Director of Institut du tourisme et l’hôtellerie de Tiziouzou, decided to take over Au Coin Berbére, a restaurant specializing in North-African cuisine. Fettouma, his wife, runs the kitchen while their lovely children complete the team. Guests to this delightful meal spot are greeted warmly inside the terracotta red dining room before being offered a unique brand of homespun Berber cuisine.
Diners can begin with salad or chorba, a traditional coriander-spiced soup with bulgur and follow with a main course served with couscous. Presented on terracotta dishes and cooked to perfection, the fine light couscous grains exude a faint aroma of anise. Vegetables served in their own broth and mouth-watering meat dishes arrive separately. Try the lamb, the beef, the Merguez sausage, the mechoui (lamb roast for five or more people) or even the Quebec rabbit.
Top it all off with a delicious dessert and steaming cup of mint tea. Traditional desserts include baklava and tuareg, a date and almond treat with hints of orange and cinnamon.
A truly memorable evening awaits you.
