Barranco MTL
The restaurant was named in honor of Barranco, one of the most beautiful districts of Lima, the capital of Perú, recognized as the center of nightlife, with its excellent restaurants and numerous bars.
The three business partners behind the project are originally from Perú, and have been working in Montreal’s restaurant and nightlife industry for many years. Fidel M. Vasquez (India Rosa, Liquid Chefs), renowned Montreal promoter Renatto Miranda (RC familia) and Josué Briones Corcuera (Les deux fours, Pio Pio Mtl) are jointly embarking on this project, which will breathe new life into the restaurant Pio Pio Mtl opened in spring 2020 before the pandemic, with a brand new, more modern and urban face.
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to open a Peruvian restaurant in Montreal. I met Renatto Miranda, with whom I took over the management of Lobby Bar 3 years ago, and the idea hasn’t left us since. With Josué Briones on board, we had the winning formula to open Barranco and introduce Montrealers to our culture,” says Fidel M. Vasquez.
The 1863 sq. ft. hall with 56 seats has a warm and inviting atmosphere. The large red brick wall will be transformed by artist Anthony Pecoraro (Teetz), whose art combines painting, photography and collage, and a huge colorful mural representing Peruvian culture will be created by two Montreal artists (@lna.mart and @bernard.lhermitee). Of course, Latin music will round off the atmosphere.
