The Mangiafoco is a generous place. Generous in the first place for the decor: located in Old Montreal and without a sign at the door, only regulars or connoisseurs enter. In the hall, you don’t really know what to expect, but when you enter the room, everything changes. The magnificent decor by Bruno Braën transports us; superb, but unpretentious. The space is very large, but remains warm; only about seventy places for the sake of comfort and pleasure for all. We feel the soul of the place and the respect for each of the elements of industrial aesthetics.
For the atmosphere: the Mangiafoco restaurant welcomes visitors like at home. You are taken care of, pampered; we make sure to take care of everything so that you have a pleasant time. Owners Jeff Stinco, Pierre-Martin Tremblay and Alexandre Brunet offer an intimate and comfortable atmosphere. The ubiquitous music with indie rock flavors surrounding and also ensuring a good mood in the room.
For what we taste there:the Mangiafoco offers modest, tasty, comforting cuisine and a magnificent decor. The restaurant is first and foremost a pizzeria offering simple, delicious pizza, concocted in a Marra Forni oven imported from Italy. A pizza dough, worked for six months before opening and an original Neapolitan recipe tomato sauce for a perfect margherita: simplicity being the most difficult to achieve. The rest of the menu features a bar of fresh Quebec buffalo mozzarella, Burrata directly imported from Puglia and Di Bufala from Campana, both traditional Italian cheeses. The other choices are declined through a concise and thoughtful menu; a series of slates to share, meats and sides to excite your taste buds. Customers also sometimes come simply to snack and take advantage of the impressive wine list, which is strictly made up of Italian wines. Lots of love, discoveries and private imports. Everything on offer is original, chosen with the utmost attention, and comes from very small Italian houses.
