Founded in 1979 by Nick Petros, Nick’s Steakhouse is located near the University of Calgary, and directly across from McMahon Stadium – the home of the Calgary Stampeders.

We craft our award-winning food using traditional family recipes, and our exceptional service is provided by our experienced and dedicated team. However, it’s our valued, loyal customers that make Nick’s a great place to be. We are more than family-friendly -we are a family, and when you visit us, you become a part of that family too.

FOUR DECADES OF HISTORY
Born in the small village of Kardiakafti, Greece, Nick came to Canada at the age of 17, leaving his parents, five brothers, and three sisters behind. Though he had no money in his pockets and spoke no English upon his arrival, Nick worked numerous jobs ranging from janitor to dishwasher, busboy, waiter, maitre’d, and even manager. He married Joan Baziuk in 1959 and together they raised three beautiful children: Kim, Tim, and Mark.

Nick spent years in the restaurant industry before he founded Nick’s Steakhouse & Pizza. With a collection of his mother’s homemade recipes combined with 25 years of on-the-job training, Nick knew his restaurant would be a success. To this day, he still greets each and every customer as though they were a guest in his own home – and his genuine, vivacious personality make him a hit with his valued customers.

After working tirelessly on the restaurant over the decades, Mark Petros and his wife Michelle purchased the business from Nick and Joan in 2000. This allowed Nick and Joan to enjoy some rest and relaxation time with their eight grandchildren, and some much-deserved vacations on the beaches of Maui. Nick will never formally “retire” however, and can be found chatting at tables throughout the restaurant on any given day!

Together with a team that embodies the meaning of family, Mark and Michelle Petros strive to maintain the tradition that defines this classic institution and proudly carry it into the future.
